This project believes that the young people, especially young women, can transform their own cities by developing their leadership and change-making skills; adopting simple digital and frontier technologies to generate city-specific data and indicators of gender-inclusion and youth well-being; supporting inclusive urban design schemes based on the data and indicators collected; and then, advocating with urban local bodies to mainstream their designs into urban policies and programs.
Developing technology tools with youth participation
Data Collection
Using Safetipin technology platforms

My Safetipin App
It is a crowd sourced online platform that is used by volunteers and/or users to conduct safety audits of public places. A location is audited based on aspects of built and social environment. This app will be used to collect data on youth’s concerns and experience in the city.

Safetipin Nite App
It will be used to map the physical and social environment in the selected cities. Safetipin Nite is a mobile phone app that generates data by clicking night-time pictures across the city via a camera phone mounted on a moving vehicle.
